Be sure to confirm that your current policy covers your goods while in transit. If not, arrange for additional coverage.
Doctors / Dentists
Be sure to obtain copies of all medical and dental records, prescriptions, shot records, etc.
Credit / Store Card (Visa, MasterCard, The Bay, Sears, etc.)
Telephone and Utilities (cell phone, electricity, gas, water, etc.)
Schedule disconnection of services at your old home, and connection of them at your new one. If possible, disconnect the day after you leave your old home and connect the day before you arrive at your new home.

Collect All Important Papers
Collect all important papers (insurance, will, deeds, stocks, etc.) and small valuables (jewellery, coin collections, etc.). Store them in a safety deposit box to prevent loss during packing.
